Tenuta Travaglino

Tenuta Travaglino, in Lombardy's Oltrepò Pavese, crafts cool-climate Pinot Nero, showcasing the region's potential for Italian Riesling and Pinot Noir. With origins dating back to 1111, the estate's evolution from a medieval monastery to a modern winery reflects the area's agricultural history. The Comi family, owners since 1868, and now the fifth generation, Cristina and Alessandro Cerri Comi (since 2014), blend tradition with innovation.

A Self-Sustaining Ecosystem of Vineyards and Heritage

The sprawling 400-hectare estate transcends typical vineyard boundaries. It encompasses not only 80 hectares of meticulously cultivated vineyards, primarily dedicated to Pinot Noir and Riesling, but also a network of farmsteads, a historical village, and a welcoming inn. This integrated approach creates a self-sustaining community, fostering a unique connection between the land, its people, and its produce. The diverse landscape contributes to the estate's biodiversity and enriches the character of its wines.

Crafting Excellence: From Classic Sparkling to Regional Specialties

Travaglino's reputation rests on its commitment to producing exceptional wines, particularly those derived from Pinot Noir and Riesling. Their Metodo Classico sparkling wines, crafted using traditional techniques, showcase the region's suitability for premium sparkling production. Additionally, the estate cultivates unique regional varieties, such as “Moranda” Bonarda Frizzante, demonstrating a dedication to preserving local viticultural heritage. This commitment to quality is supported by a team of experienced professionals, including consultant oenologist Donato Lanati, the Enosis research center, and winemaker Achille Bergami, ensuring a harmonious blend of tradition and expertise

Sustainable Practices and Terroir-Driven Winemaking

Travaglino embraces a philosophy of sustainable agriculture, recognizing the importance of preserving the Oltrepò Pavese's natural heritage. They prioritize biodiversity and minimize environmental impact through rational cultivation and integrated pest management, ensuring the long-term health of the ecosystem. The winemaking process is characterized by meticulous attention to detail, encompassing hand harvesting, low-yield production, and gentle pressing. These practices are designed to preserve the unique characteristics of the grapes, allowing the terroir to express itself fully in the resulting wines. The final product reflects the estate's commitment to quality and the Oltrepò Pavese's viticultural excellence, offering a genuine taste of the region.
