Tenuta Placidi
Tenuta Placidi is a dynamic and relatively young winery nestled in the heart of Umbria, Italy, with a story deeply rooted in family tradition and a forward-thinking approach to winemaking. The estate is located near Perugia, in an area known for its picturesque landscapes and rich agricultural heritage.
The narrative of Tenuta Placidi is strongly linked to Arianna Placidi, who, at just 24 years old, took the reins of the family business after her grandfather's passing. Armed with a degree in Enology and Viticulture from the University of Agraria in Perugia, Arianna embarked on a mission to revitalize the estate, transforming its 32 hectares of land, which include vineyards, olive groves, and woodlands.
Under Arianna's passionate guidance, Tenuta Placidi has embraced organic viticulture, emphasizing a commitment to environmental respect and sustainable practices. This dedication to low-impact agriculture is a cornerstone of their philosophy, believing it is essential for producing high-quality wines.
Tenuta Placidi cultivates a diverse range of grape varieties, including indigenous Umbrian grapes like Grechetto, Sagrantino, Sangiovese, and Malvasia, alongside international varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and even Tannat. This diverse selection allows them to craft a varied portfolio of wines, from crisp whites and elegant sparkling wines to robust reds.
Beyond their core wine production, Tenuta Placidi has collaborated with other regional producers and has introduced wines without added sulfites, showcasing their innovative spirit. Arianna herself is an active member of "Sbarbatelle," an association of young female wine producers, highlighting her dedication to empowering women in the industry.
Tenuta Placidi is not just about producing wine; it's about sharing the passion and heritage of Umbrian winemaking. They offer various tasting experiences for visitors, inviting them to discover their wines and the beautiful surroundings of the estate. Under Arianna's leadership, Tenuta Placidi is quickly becoming a recognized name, celebrated for its quality wines and its commitment to sustainable, family-driven winemaking in Umbria.
