Wines produced with passion, the Maurin family extract the best of what their rich abundant terroirs of the right bank Bordeaux region have to offer. They delivered intense flavors brought by the sun and the blend of typical ripened grapes from Bordeaux. They bring authenticity for who enjoy and look for a noble Bordeaux experience. Elegance, fragrance and smooth describe the wines produced by the estate. Raphael Maurin is a perfectionist, Rugby player and dedicated father. He joined his father in 2002 and transited the winery toward organic certified standard. He produces wines that resemble him: strong yet subtle, elegant yet solid, fruit and earth intertwined to integrate one another. His dedication to his art was recognized and in 2012, His Fronsac was recognized as the best Fronsac of the year.
The story of the vineyard takes root back in the 19th century where a producer, M. Féret, was mentioned as releasing in 1893, 3 to 10 barrel of red and 5 to 8 barrel of white wine average. Isabelle and François Maurin, Raphael’s parents, purchased Château La Croix de Roche in 1981.
Raphael operates with 20 hectares of vines planted of a plateau of sandy-clay, with South-East exposition and overseeing Isle river right bank. The vineyard is planted primarily with Merlot and completed with Malbec, both Cabernet, Carmenère and Petit Verdot. Raphael also produces some white wines born from the typical blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Harvest are done by hand for the Crémant Rosé, their whites and their Fronsac to respect and maintain high quality.
Since 1982, François Maurin a proprietary of Château La Croix de Roche, joined by their son Raphael in 2002, is located west of Saint-Emilion. It produces wines AOP Fronses, Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur red, rosé and white wines as well as sparkling wines. The wines are vinified by François and Raphael Maurin. The wines are meet authentic men and enthusiasts, lovers of the vine and wine. It is the union of the power and harmony, strength and elegance
